The World According to Darren Beattie
There were already low expectations for incoming Secretary of State Marco Rubio, but he is managing to exceed them.
He is appointing Darren Beattie as acting undersecretary of state for public diplomacy and public affairs.
Beattie was fired from his post in the first administration for participating in a White Supremacist conference.
Apparently, what was once a firing offense in the first administration serves as a key qualification in the second administration.
Beattie has a long history of making racist and sexist social media statements, but one in particular is drawing lots of attention.
On Twitter/X, Beattie posted the following:
"Competent white men must be in charge if you want things to work. Unfortunately, our entire national ideology is predicated on coddling the feelings of women and minorities and demoralizing competent white men."
Doesn’t he sound like a diplomat?
This is Exhibit 4019 of why this president and his administration is racist and sexist.
Of course, what is also laughable is Beattie’s use of the word “competent.”
Rick Hegseth is the Secretary of Defense because Gomer Pyle refused the appointment.
Rubio himself is the Secretary of State because Yosemite Sam was otherwise engaged.
Robert Kennedy, Jr is likely to become Secretary of Health and Human Services because Frank Burns was holding out for a large role in the administration.
Competence may be in the eye of the beholder, but when the beholder is devoid of their senses, logic, and reasoning, it’s a moot point.
This administration will be infamous for many reasons, but one of many will be the level of incompetence of the president’s nominees.
Appointing people with obvious, deep-seated hatred is on point with the administration.
But like so many things, it is indicative of the painful lessons that America is learning and will learn in the days to come.
Lessons such as:
· Don’t vote for White Supremacists because they promised to lower the price of eggs
· Don’t vote for White Supremacists when you’re a Person of Color
· Don’t vote for a sexist when you’re a woman
· Don’t vote for third-party candidates who don’t have a chance of winning
· Don’t stay at home because you disagree with the policies of the current administration when common sense, two eyes, two ears, and a working brain tells you that the alternative will make things worse
When you vote for people like the president, you get like-minded people put in other positions of power.
Positions that require fairness, being openminded, and the willingness to serve the interests of the nation, not a privileged few.
But those are not to be found in this administration.
All that can be found is fascism, racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and every other ism and phobia.
This is what happens when people vote against their own interests.
There are few billionaires.
There are more of us.
But many of you were convinced that a billionaire with lots of billionaire friends was “one of us.”
Some of you thought that voting for someone wanting to deport “illegal immigrants” didn’t mean that someone you love would be deported.
That was your mistake, and the reason for our nation’s and the world’s current tribulations.
