Sieg Heil, Elon?
It is a great rule of thumb to believe what you see with your own eyes.
In this era of right-wing gaslighting, insurrectionists are “hostages,” billionaire businessmen are “experts,” and the president is a “committed Christian.”
Don’t believe anyone when they say that Elon Musk’s gesture on Monday was not a Nazi salute.
Take a look at Adolf Hitler or other Nazi luminaries give the “Sieg Hiel” or Roman salute, and you won’t see any difference between their actions and Musk’s.
There is no justification for this action other than to show his political leanings, which Musk has been doing for some time, while denying that his leanings are his leanings.
He has been supporting far-right politicians and political parties across the globe, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Norway, and Spain.
He has repeated antisemitic sentiments and White supremacist propaganda.
Neo-Nazis are expressing their approval of his salute.
How much more evidence does one need?
We are watching nothing less than the Nazification of the American government.
After all, the president said that Hitler “did some good things” and said on several occasions that he wanted to have “German generals.” When asked his former Chief of Staff John Kelly if he meant “Bismarck’s Generals,” referring to Otto von Bismarck, the president clarified “Hitler’s generals.”
Fascism relies on blind loyalty, which is why the president has already fired Admiral Linda Fagan, the commander of the Coast Guard.
Part of the reason given for her removal was an “excessive” focus on diversity programs.
Diversity is a non-starter to the president and his presumptive Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
They want lily-White, all-male military leadership.
They do not want women, Black or Brown men in leadership positions.
As you may recall, there is a paucity of Black and Brown Nazis.
(Hitler referred to the French as “degenerate Negroes,” which tells you how much he hated both the French and Blacks.)
When a person gives a Nazi salute and tells you that’s not what they did, you believe what your eyes tell you, you believe other Nazis when they show approval and remember that this is symptomatic of the contemporary Republican Party.
They tell you that the president is a friend of the common man, even though he surrounds himself with billionaires.
They tell you he’s not racist, even though he often says and does racist things.
They tell you that he is not a misogynist, even though he has admitted to boorish, misogynistic behavior.
You see something, but they tell you what you saw isn’t what you saw.
That’s the way of fascism.
That’s the way of Nazism.
That’s the way this new government is heading.
