Cassidy Hutchinson and others who have dared to testify to their knowledge of goings on in the former administration are being lauded as heroes.
They aren’t.
Our standards have dropped so low that people who were privy to treasonous behavior, but only came forward afterwards are being considered heroic.
The reasons they knew crimes were being committed yet did nothing to stop could only be rooted in self-preservation at best, and selfish ambition at worse.
Don’t forget that Ms. Hutchinson worked as an intern for both Ted Cruz and Steve Scalise.
Cruz is known for running from his congressional responsibilities, being a sycophant, and conducting feuds with Muppets over COVID vaccinations.
Scalise is an election-results denier, a gun-nut, a White Supremacist, and spreader of a deep-fake video where President Biden appears to support defunding the police.
It’s entirely appropriate to judge her by the company she keeps.
Cruz, Scalise, and finally, the former president. No need to recount his deeds.
Ms. Hutchinson is young and conservative.
She seems to have ideas and ideals.
She may possess sterling characteristics and qualities.
But she isn’t a hero.
Have our standards dropped so low that people who spill their guts about treason after the fact are worthy of our respect?
She may accomplish wonderful things but testifying to the truth before Congress won’t be one of them.
She may leave a distinguished legacy in her wake, but she knew that the President of the United States was actively involved in undermining the peaceful transfer of power after a free and honest election, and until now, said or did nothing to alert law enforcement.
Cassidy Hutchinson has not demonstrated heroism, nor will anyone like her who knew what they did and did not report that information.
Our country has devolved considerably, but let’s be clear about the difference between heroism and saving face.
