LGBTQIA Harassment on "Target"
The department store is mired in a "Pride Month" merchandise controversy.
Recent attacks on Target employees are on-brand for fear and hate mongers.
The department store chain has sold Pride Month merchandise for years, but with “Don’t Say Gay” sentiments present around the country, homophobes are having fits.
Target felt compelled to pull some of the items from their stores because of threats to store employees and angry, abusive calls to the store’s service center phone lines.
The LGBTQIA community and its allies are disappointed.
They point out that removing merchandise sends the wrong message.
The same message sent when negotiating with terrorists.
Target may believe they are doing the right thing, but they aren’t.
Some call situations like this one “culture wars.”
A more accurate description is raging hypocrisy.
The same crowd that accuses some of practicing “cancel culture” are also threatening employees who don’t own businesses and don’t profit from sales.
They are the same people who donate money to murderers and Karens.
They are the people who incite hatred and proclaim their spiritual beliefs as they incite.
They aren’t fooling anyone.
They are charlatans pretending to be spiritual.
They go to church on Sundays and practice hypocrisy on that day and every day of the week.
Target’s CEO Brian Cornell said that the decision to remove items followed
“Many difficult days of deliberation and decision-making.”
In an internal menu, he continued:
“What you’ve seen in recent days went well beyond discomfort, and it has been gut-wrenching to see what you’ve confronted in our aisles.”
On one hand, you appreciate that Mr. Cornell is taking steps to ensure the safety of his employees.
On the other hand, Target seems less of an ally to the LGBTQIA community, and more of an opportunistic capitalist.
Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with Target’s stance, one thing is clear.
You can add Target to a list that includes Disney, the NFL, Starbucks, Nordstrom, and other companies that have angered a certain segment.
A certain segment that protests a “culture” that holds individuals accountable for their actions.
But feels free to intimidate and harass when its suits their interests.
