Epstein Client List or Bust?
It remains to be seen how long lasting the effects will be, but the furor over Jeffrey Epstein’s unreleased client list is the biggest controversy of the president’s brief second term.
Die-hard supporters, including Charlie Kirk, Laura Loomer, and Matt Walsh are criticizing the president and his regime for not releasing the list.
The president’s attempt to manage the controversy with a rambling, blame-shifting social media post failed miserably as readers responded with unabashed anger.
Some examples:
“You are losing too many in your base. Have an aide collect what we are saying all over Social Media. Pam Bondi has not been telling US the truth. Her story changed each time. Sir, you need to listen to US. Are you aware how long & hard many of US work to get to the TRUTH? We refuse to give this a pass. For US, this will not go away. This is about The Children!"
"Americans care because there needs to be accountability. Without accountability the same sickos that were his customers are likely still abusing children. On top of that it is a slap in the face to the many victims that have come forward or people that are living with the memories of a ruined childhood. This can't be swept under the rug."
"Sorry this is not holding water. Girls were used and abused by this man and many other men. They need to pay the price."
"Mr president you did make the promise, just saying."
"This is going to cost you so many supporters. I being one of them. I have been to multiple rallies and even was there on J6. This is one of the main things that needs fixed. Our 2 tiered system of justice needs to end. We the people are tired of it. They can't be charged with child trafficking without there being perpetrators. Alan Dershowitz who was accused of being one of them has seen the list when he went to defend himself. We want the guilty to pay. It appears you or a loved one was in on it and you want this to go away. Everyone I know is upset about this and it will kill MAGA. Which we all have supported 100 percent. This is why we don't trust the government. No transparency unless you it is something you want us to see. Please reconsider.”
As refreshing it is to see MAGA implode, one can’t help but be aggrieved by the performative nature of this reaction.
We can’t minimize what Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Epstein’s “clients” did.
Young lives were forever shattered.
People in positions of power and authority went too far to satisfy their personal desires.
But this is not a revelation.
We’ve known about Epstein, and his activities for some time.
We’ve seen the numerous photographs showing Epstein and the president together, some with young women.
We’ve seen the picture where the president is very close with a very young lady.
We’ve been aware of the client list, and how the president’s own administration previewed it as a coming attraction labelled “Phase 1.”
We remember Epstein’s supposed prison suicide.
None of this is revelatory.
The president’s most ardent supporters, both high-profile and the great, unwitting masses of the public, are horribly outraged.
But apparently, the ICE raids conducted by unidentifiable thugs where men, women, children, and babies have been imprisoned, is tolerable.
Building a concentration camp in the Florida swamps and calling it Alligator Alcatraz is permissible.
Cratering our economy with tariffs and cutting back on essential government services and research is okay.
All of this should have warranted the burning of MAGA hats.
This should have led to anger and righteous indignation.
Surely, they don’t believe the president’s name is on the list.
If Biden or Obama had “written” the list as the president accused in his post, why did his Attorney General make such a show of previewing the release?
Surely, Democratic authorship would have been declared at once to further sully the GOP’s enemy combatants.
None of this makes sense unless the president is on the client list.
Then, everything makes sense.
But what will never make sense is the “outrage” about not releasing the client list, as if this is the first time the president has lied.
He’s a serial adulterer.
He said he’d build a wall, and Mexico would pay for it.
He said he’d end the Ukrainian conflict on Day One. It’s still roiling.
He promised the same for the Gaza conflict. Still going.
You could wallpaper the moon with his lies, but yet, this lie is the one that resonates with his supporters.
It’s better for them to be awakened to his deceptions than not, but this has been too long in coming.
Hopefully, the immortal words of former NBA player Michael Ray Richardson are true. When asked about the state of his New York Knicks team, he said,
“The ship be sinking.”
