Vernon Jones is a quintessential career politician, and I mean that in the most negative sense.
He’s the kind of unfortunate individual that sees hundred-dollar bills in his sleep, and in his waking hours, he is willing to do anything to get what he wants.
We could spend hours upon hours theorizing what he wants and where he wants to go, but suffice to say that Jones is morally malleable and ethically elastic.
He’s aiming for something by running as a Republican against incumbent Georgia governor Brian Kemp for the GOP nomination. This required the continuation of his movement away from the Democratic Party that began as the state’s most prominent Black supporter of the former president outside of Herschel Walker.
He knows he’s not going to win, no matter how close the polls are at the moment. A black man is not going to win the Republican nomination in Georgia. At least not anytime soon. Especially someone who is renown for a lack of consistency and stability.
He knew he wasn’t going to progress with the Dems, so now he makes the switch to the GOP, knowing that he will garner plenty of attention, get interviews from Fox News, Newsmax, etc., and he is providing at least a modicum of comfort to Trumpers who hold a grudge against Kemp for not “stopping the steal.”
So here he is, angling for something, but we know not what.
And I for one don’t care.
He’s another opportunist trying to make hay with people who would just as soon kill or enslave him. He’ll never be anything other than another Black person to them.
But he’ll use them to go after what he wants.
He should go somewhere and permanently sit down.
Bye Vernon, and take Herschel with you!
