Ashli Babbitt and the Wages of Sin
The victims of the January 6 insurrection have dealt with numerous indignities.
They have watched as the president described that day as “a day of love.”
Law enforcement officers who engaged the rioters have watched as the president pardoned some of the rioters.
In the most egregious act yet, the family of Ashli Babbitt is set to receive almost $5 million dollars in a settlement of a $30 million lawsuit.
Babbitt’s family had the unmitigated gall to file a lawsuit against the Justice Department as if she was an innocent victim.
Their fantastical lawsuit seems to pretend that she was an invited guest in the Capitol that day, minding her own business when she was shot and killed, instead of being one of the rioters.
A rioter who was climbing into a window of a barricaded door when she was shot.
It is unfortunate that Ashli Babbitt is dead, but she died as a result of her own actions.
She wasn’t answering the door of her home when she was shot.
She wasn’t sitting in her home eating ice cream when she was shot.
She wasn’t sleeping in her own bed when she was shot.
She was killed because she was part of a riotous mob that stormed the Capitol, destroyed properties, spread feces, took over congressional offices, and threatened the life of the Vice President.
She wasn’t innocent.
She was a rioter.
She was a criminal.
In a country where innocent Black and Brown people are killed and their families and loved ones are left without redress and recourse, the current administration is financially rewarding terrorism committed on its behalf.
Racism and double standards abound.
Giving money to the family of dead terrorists is another inexcusable, unexplainable criminal action from the so-called party of law and order as it aids and abets terrorism on American soil.
If Ashli Babbitt had been a law-abiding citizen, she wouldn’t be dead now.
If she had just complied with police instructions, she would still be alive.
Her death was the result of a justifiable action.
Yet, her family stands to make millions.
Law and order isn’t a joke under this administration.
It is an unmitigated farce.
Criminals are rewarded with pardons.
The families of dead terrorists are given millions.
The wages of sin are paying nicely, even if the sinner isn’t alive to reap the rewards.
