The Civil War was another gathering of tourists.

America has never been a racist country,

Even though the Black president was called a monkey,

Martin and Medgar were murdered,

We had to use “Colored Only” water fountains,

Go to separate and unequal schools.

America has never been a racist country.

Even though every Person of Color has personal stories,

Of dehumanization and degradation,

Of persecution and privation.

America has never been a racist country,

Say the racists and their minions.

The minions who have also felt our pain,

But kowtow and placate those who do us harm.

America has always been a racist country.

America will always be a racist country,

Until truths are told,

Facts are faced,

Until history is no longer rewritten.
