You probably heard that the PACT Act failed to pass in the Senate. This bill, the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act, initially had wide bipartisan support.
The PACT Act would have expanded VA health care eligibility to more than three million post-9/11 combat veterans who were exposed to toxins while serving in the military. Open-air burn pits are particularly suspect in being responsible for veterans contracting lung cancer and other respiratory conditions.
Twenty-five senators who initially supported the measure changed their vote. The only Democrat who voted against the bill was NY senator Charles Schumer, who did so as a matter of procedure so that the measure can be voted on in the future.
For the ignominious record, here’s a list of the 41 GOP senators who voted against the bill:
1. John A. Barrasso, WY

These names should be posted on every refrigerator in America.
Every VA hospital, every VFW post should have this list prominently displayed.
And when these people say their “America First,” you’ll know that you’re listening to a liar.
When then tell you that they love the military, and that the men and women who have bravely served this country’s armed forces are a priority to them, you know that they are telling you what you want to hear.
Many of these people were involved with the January 6 insurrection. Many of them, especially Josh Hawley, showed support for the rioters, then ran like cowards as they infiltrated the Capitol.
These men and women do not deserve the votes of anyone who is or was a veteran, or has family members, friends, and loved ones who are or were veterans.
What they do deserve is our scorn and contempt.
